As a distributor of chemical products, Tanner Industries takes great care in ensuring we supply quality products in a safe and efficient manner. This is why we also provide quality assurance to protect the safety of employees, communities served, and the environment as a whole. Tanner Industries is made up of four divisions, each catering to customer’s needs of anhydrous ammonia and aqua ammonia, no matter if they need it by the drum or by the tank full.
Anhydrous Ammonia
When one part nitrogen and three parts hydrogen combine, it produces the compound anhydrous ammonia. While this pungent gas is colorless, it freezes to a white crystalline mass when the temperature reaches -108°F. In liquid form, anhydrous ammonia is lighter than water, and as a vapor, it’s lighter than air. It’s important to keep this form of ammonia dry when storing and handling, since it can dissolve in water, which changes its form to ammonium hydroxide, or aqua ammonia.
Aqua Ammonia
Aqua ammonia is known by several different names, its chemical name being ammonium hydroxide. This form of ammonia is produced by dissolving ammonia gas in water, which is easy to remember with “aqua” in the name. Common uses for aqua ammonia also have to do with water, since it can be used for water treatment as well as in agriculture, acid neutralization, and explosives. The chemical, pharmaceutical, and petroleum industries also typically require aqua ammonia for resins, polymers, and cogeneration.
Tanner Industries offers storage tanks for lease and purchase in order to safely store any type of ammonia at your facility. Tanner also provides pump out services to recycle contaminated ammonia from all containers, tanks, and systems in order to protect your company and the environment. |
